These are two small things I did using a Video software called Kdenlive: kdenlive.org

For the graphics editing, I used GIMP: gimp.org

For video presentations, graphics design and whatever else, projects like this need powerful softwares with a cost of $0, seeing as we also have a budget of $0.

We need to take full advantage of the "Free and Open Source Communities" in order to become efficient.

For those of us who really have the mad skills, there is Blender 3D: www.blender.org/

You can do Hollywood Level productions on this puppy, and its been compared to Caligari Truespace and Bryce 3D!

Below is a short cartoon series people made using it:

The power of free and open source applications speaks for itself.

As a special bonus -- I would also like to share a short Kdenlive Tutorial by the Linux Godess herself, NixiePixel! *applauses*

Nixie also says "Open Source or GO HOME!"

Needless to say -- the Free and Open Source Communities of the world provide for us some really powerful tools, for only 3 low monthly payments of your thanks and appreciation for their efforts to make this world, a better and more fun place!

So do we have anyone that is knowledgable (or willing) to create a few little clips? Maybe something the length of a television commercial that can be put on out site and friends sites. I saw the few second clip that was made for us (I think it was Brad), and that's a great start. As much as I hate those little pop-ups when I click on a new link, some variation of this idea may not be too bad for free advertising. Any ideas on how these ideas can be evolved and used effectively? Maybe this should go more in the activist committee section.

Why don't you give it a shot? Kdenlive is made with ease of use in mind. I am very, very, VERY *new* to the more advanced forms of video editing. My top two vids I pasted are the first two *ever* that I've made to be as advanced as those are. My others prior were just your average home movie variety. Point, shoot, save, upload to youtube as is

I'm no more a pro at video editing than you. I am giving this stuff a whirl so, your turn, yes?

I find myself using Kdenlive quite a bit, however sometimes I will switch over to Pitivi, as far as Gimp, I love it. I use it and find it easier to use than the closed source Photoshop

I would also recommend Google Chrome, as they have come out with a Linux version Beta (was Developer only) and I find it rather stable. I like Firefox and all, but after using Google Chrome, I really like it. And the fact that Google has gone open source with everything is pretty nice.

I would recommend you check out my site, and it's open source guide and software at globalcommunityportal.com/gcp/opensource

If I ever came across the time I wouldn't mind, but at the moment I have too many things on my plate. Learning from scratch would be fun, but if someone is already knowledgeable it would save a lot of time.

I've added your site to several of my Google Custom Engines, including this one: www.bbscrawler.com

My sites are an up and down roller coaster until I implement my new server. Apologies for any inconveniences. I have half the parts. Just need to save up for the other half

GIMP is deceptively simple. A bitch to learn if you're already used to PS like I was, which is what turns many people off about it. The deception however is not within GIMP but within ourselves.

GIMP is no more or less hard to learn than PS, in all honesty. It is however far more powerful than PS with more plugins and support.

Even if people insist on using PS, it is fully supported up to PS CS2 under Linux right now, via PlayOnLinux: www.playonlinux.com/en/

I've found Pitivi to lack the various import / export / render compatibility for file formats which I desire to use. I've yet to find anything that Kdenlive can't handle

I like and dislike Chrome. I like that it is fast, efficient, easy to use and totally whoops IE's ass. I dislike that it does not have nearly the compatibility or plugins support that Firefox has. Of course, I understand that this is only because it is as new as it is -- and that Firefox did not start with that much support, either. It takes time.

I really think that when the Ubuntu-based Google Chrome Linux OS comes out, that Microsoft is going to be in some real trouble.

People trust Google over Microsoft and you know that Google main stream advertises. They just don't advertise until things come out of Beta. With things such as Cedega, Wine, Crossover, PlayOnLinux and the list goes on ... once Google Chrome OS gets popular, people will migrate and DEMAND support for ALL of their Windows applications and Games. This is when Windows Compatibility under Linux will reach a development height -- as more and more developers hop on board to make it all happen faster.

Win32/64 will be demoted to a mere "protocol" that "OSes use" and Microsoft Windows will die.

Though Microsoft may be immortal, Windows is on borrowed time.
