TOPIC: Hi, my first impression- blind leading the blind

Hi, my first impression- blind leading the blind 1 year, 1 month ago #5271

Great idea to start a forum, I don't see Venus project doing that.
I am very skeptical at first I hear "resource based economy" and then a donations tab for the website which leads me to think that anyone who contributes words here lends to the illusion and paying someone's bills perhaps. Nevertheless it serves a purpose.

I see many people are looking for something different, like the first people who ran away from the old world, of kings and serfs fighting serfs over imaginary lands, to found America they feel a need to get away from the rat race we call society that must systematically oppress people so that a few can live like kings. I also see a lot impractical ideas floating around, people trying to lead but sure they know what to do and as such do not know what to do. People who claim democracy and equality and then scramble to get on top of some new fantasy paradigm possible community or daydream about building one in a not so democratic fashion.

I'm just some guy who likes to analyze things to death, I'm not here to win any popularity contests, I've seen so much of the bad in this world it's hard to see much good sometimes. I would like to live in a truly democratic society where people are given the tools to intellectually mature rather than what we've got which is something like mass egotistical consumerism insanity so it seems ok. I stopped watching commercials on tv about 15 years ago, that really helps.

Anyway this site is a good idea overall, needs a voting system on threads though to get the good stuff and responses bumped up to the top. I got some ideas, but I'm no leader or know it all.

If you are talking about our page donation tab, that is quite common for non-profits. In some cases, grants and other financial aids will not take you seriously if you don't have it and refuse to help you.

Your idea for the voting system is unique. I don't think it quite works here as the forum is for everyone's general thoughts, ideas, and research. The final chosen ideas are the ones that will be implemented in the Wiki.

If you are able, I would suggest trying to make our next meeting April 23rd via online conference to get an idea of current workings.
