Summary from Zeitgeist forum

******

Someone posed the question to me.

"What do you do with someone who commits murder?"

In the future there won't be murder. If there ever is a murder that person obviously has something wrong with them. lets help that person figure out what is wrong.

"What if a mans wife cheats so he goes and kills the other man?"

Men do not "Own" women, this relationship is selfish and built out of man's ego, perpetuated by woman's naturally smaller size making them the submissive gender. There will be no cheating because there will be no relationship of that type.
Marriage is a product of religion. Love is also a product of religion and the subsequent marriage. Humans in the future will have a better understanding of this. We cannot apply today's thinking to tomorrow's understandings. We must let go of our egotistical and selfish ways to move forward.

********

During the transition, we will still need a way to "protect" the public, in a sense.

There will still be abhorrent behavior, maybe even murder!

We might get some crazy person who decides to go shoot up a crowd of people.
We may have someone come in from outside the city to cause problems or harm.

And in this sense, we will need 'police'. What do you think about this?

******

What is considered a truly negative action? In my opinion, these are the following:

1. Destruction of an individual's health, both mentally and physically, against their will.

2. The loss of an individual's physical property, destroyed or stolen, against their will.

We should enforce guidelines that prohibit these actions. If there are any others you feel I'm missing, please say so!

*****

Except there will be no "property"

Atlas City will need security in a fairly large force. The reason is not for anticipated internal conflicts, which I believe will be few, but because we are surrounded by a monetary system which will attempt to demonize us, wackos of low intelligence will not understand our peaceful efforts that will improve humanity and initially we will meet resistance. We will be protective of our city, defensive in nature, never offensive.

Internally, we actually still require laws during transition. The reason is, we have to help people realize that their are consequences to certain behaviors and they are not arbitrary. If someone gets angry with their girlfriend or boyfriend, they can expect that violence will not be tolerated. If someone is determined to be a rapist or pedophile, we will turn them over to state law authorities until such time we have a better treatment in Atlas City. In the future these individuals will not be incarcerated, but be placed in treatment centers where medical treatment, perhaps hormone correction, and/or intensive psychological treatment is proven effective. Unfortunately, Atlas City may not have those facilities initially.

*******

A City in transition is dealing with people fresh from the monetary system. Most ill thinking will be retrainable for our citizens. However, we will still enertain guests from the monetary system and that invites in the same thinking we are leaving behind. It is not likely we will choose to put up a wall between us and the outside world, in fact our open door policy will allow an interested world to see how effective our city does work. But because of that, and because some ill thinking monetary (selfish greed based) 'capitalist' is incapable of tolerance in peacefully watching us succeed, we will face threats where security is most definitely required to protect our citizens and our city.

I have suggestions to lead out of the necessity of police.

First of all, I'm sure everyone would agree that gun control is going to be very strict. I wouldn't go as far as to disallow them completely (they are not always the problem). I have been raised with guns, which is why I propose that gun control can be limited in such ways to make them very safe. First, each person will have to pass certain checks, maybe federal checks like the license for concealed carrying of weapons (which I have and is FBI checked before warrented). Second, no pistols or automatics will be allowed for there is no use for these except to kill. Sure they are for self defense in the house (as the argument goes), but it should be nearly impossible for burglary and violent crime in the city since the selected few inside share ideals of peace, and security will be very strong as part of our technology. Also, to have a gun (shotgun, non-semiauto rifle) should be stored inside a vault while in the city. It can be taken out when going out of the city for gun ranges, hunting and other activities that will not be immediately gotten rid of. At least in the transitional phase this could be a way of working it. Many will fight just outright bans of all guns, especially because it's a constitutional right of a nation we are still going to be a part of.

Second, we can always still have self protection in the form of stun guns and pepper spray if needed. Hopefully, this won't be a large concern for long, but at the transition it may ease the minds of fearful people. Though I don't anticipate it will be a huge problem if these are not allowed within the city. Of course, depending on how far from everyone else this city is created it may be required to check all cars that enter the city to make sure they don't take advantage of the non-armed citizens.

Thirdly, I personally think that martial arts should be part of a mandatory workout schedule for each citizen. Everyone should have to exercise and maintain good health, or at least strongly encouraged (which shouldn't be difficult with the general philosophy of the city). Self defense and martial arts will help build physical and mental strength. It would also make each citizen a form of security and official police will not be needed.

Hi Chase,

A lot of good ideas here. I'm not too sure about the firearms idea though, I feel that's something we can do without as there really is no property to the people that live within the city. The entire city is the people's homes. I do concur that martial arts training would be a phenomenal idea as it is beneficial on so many different levels.

As for weapons storage and security, there really is no form of 'absolute' security system as they can always be broken into. I think the more we stay away from guns and simply allow any form of ill-mannered person who wants to start trouble, defense can come from calling the police or having those in the city trained in martial arts to restrain the individual and bring them into police custody then arrange psychological assistance for the individual rather than just shoving the person into a jail cell.

Just my two cents on it. But yes, I like the sound of this.

Interesting thoughts. My opinion is that everyone has a place in the city and we met our needs so violence will be low to non-existent due to lack of motive. The exception during the transition will be those that cling to the old idea of ownership and control. I would use the term security and not police as it has negative connections to the old society. Transitional security will need to address those stuck in the past and we will have to look at each situation as they come up. Licenses are another thing tied to the past. I think weapons training, education and certification is a good thing for anyone interested and should be available as we will need trained personnel. Those not interested should not have to. City security is another matter and is going to be very challenging due the fact that there is a group of very powerful people that will not want us to do this (RBE)at all because they have all the power in the current society and will not simply give up their control. I am not trying to be negative but that is the reality we face and that is why I am here contributing to something better. I know I am ready for a challenge. When it comes to how we treat one other, if we are taking care of everyone in the city, why would someone do something that they would not want done to themselves? And that is not religious, it just feels like a natural way of acting that we have gotten so far from because of the screwed up social education these days (media, consumer education...). Anyway, weapons will have their place for defense, but also for sport and other creative uses. The legal arena IMO will become less complcated and more common sense. We should all be more interested in living a full happy life instead of worrying about who is following this law or that... Those things that affect all of us and our environment is where we should spend our energy and not in a legal or political way but in a solution based forum with technology as our tool. My 2 cents

I agree with you and the topic of the current power holders is a serious concern among everyone paving the road to true freedom. I am almost positive there will be a day when they will attempt to exert force on us. They already do it to normal citizens who peacefully protest.
Once you realize that every beings purpose in life is to learn, it becomes easier to forgive them for their mistakes.

The future doesn’t exist. The only time we can be peaceful is now, because now is all that exists.

That is my thought too.

Not a bad idea.

Also not a bad idea.

Whatever land Atlas buys will be in an existing Town/City/County that will already have some type of police force.

I could not agree more. Also, there is much philosophy behind the martial arts that should be taught as well. Martial Arts is not just a form of protection, it is a way of life.
