The RBE concept requires a new way of thinking. This is the guide for those who want to learn to become an Atlasian. You must live it in your own life to understand and become it.

TOPIC: 2 boys like same girl...oh boy

2 boys like same girl...oh boy 1 year, 1 month ago #5228

Thought experiment...your opigion.

Now let's assume removing the monetary system gets rid of the vast majority of crime, what happens with the crime that is not affected by the change. For example: 2 men love the same woman, and this turns into a fist fight one day (this stuff WILL and might ALWAYS happen). What happens to these guys, who stops the fight (assuming passerbuyers are not physically strong enough to have a go at stopping the fight themselves). What happens to the men who just beat the crap out of eachother? What about if one ends up cracking the others skull with a rock in the heat of the fight, where does he go? how is he punished/the situation corrected?

Well, while I am not sure how the fight will be broken up (realistically, how often do the police actually break up a fight in the monetary system?) I can say from discussions we have had that if someone were to beat someone or put someone in the hospital, they would not be welcomed in the city. Honestly we have to expect people to behave better then that, and if that happened we would likely just give them to the county's authorities. The person who was beat would be given medical attention to make sure they are ok.

See there's a big problem with this. I'm not just speaking about 1 transitional city, I'm referring to rbe in general, what if there was no "local authorities" anymore. Even in a transitional city you can't just export your criminals outside the city, this just proves the city doesn't work and that an external legal system is needed where we can send people, this ofcourse won't do and the local authorities might very well say screw you, you started your civilization, you deal with your criminals it is longer our jurisdiction, so for me this won't do. I have much faith in the civility of humanity in the future, but there will be some problems like this, how would you deal with them internally IN THE CITY, and in a woldrwide RBE system.

The worldwide aspect is not something that will likely happen, but if it does then there will also likely be much greater education and technology by then. Education helps people make more productive (or at least less destructive) choices. Technology will help monitor and prevent crime.

With how long it would take even to get a semi-worldwide RBE (50 years would be very optimistic) great technological and social advancements will be taking place alongside. There's no way to predict exactly how this will occur, as the Constitution was not prepared for many of our changes in current society. The key is to move in the better direction for now and be mold-able in the future.

To be a bit more direct about this, we haven't solved that problem yet even though some ideas are on the board. We will need security during transition so there will be police like figures in our city, of course they will be neutered in comparison to the police in the monetary system.

Overall education is the key to solving this problem.... Teach Tommy how to control his rage when Tina cheats on him is the right way of handling this. Give people the tools to control their emotions and they will use them. Teach them that are better ways to solve their problems rather than violence.

If he does resort to violence society may cast him out and tell him to never return. In the future being outcast from a society where everyone is so connected will be a pretty harsh punishment.

Apply future thought to this instead of today thought. In that time things will be different and people won't act the same as they do now, just think of how different we are now from only 80 years ago. But ultimately the RBE is way better than Monetary economy, there is no denying that. If this answer is not sufficient I have faith that we will find the answers to these problems as we grow into our new environment and connect to each other in ways never thought of.
Once you realize that every beings purpose in life is to learn, it becomes easier to forgive them for their mistakes.

The future doesn’t exist. The only time we can be peaceful is now, because now is all that exists.

There is a book that may answer part of the question. "the moon is a harsh mistress" by Robert Heinlein.

I agree that education and customs are critical in this matter. Thinking with our future mind is what we should already be doing. In a transitional city, it should be important to not have harden criminals participate. Like the old saying, " you reap what you sow". Maybe initial participation should be limited? Maybe a criminal and/or educational background check may be appropriate. It could turn into a slippery slope.

But definetly read the story I mentioned. They had an interesting solution to a troubling infraction of good order and discipline. Another story that posed the same question was an Arthur C. Clark book "3001". They didn't give particulars but servitude was the answer in that case. Either way, what we currently have in place is not the answer.
