Summary from the Zeitgeist forum

I remember seeing that show a while ago and wondered why it hasn't caught on much more yet. This design does take away all of the normal complaints of composing toilets. The only problem that I can see is I'm not sure how well this would work on a multi floor building. In the video all that is flushed goes straight down to a system a few feet away. I have seen other composting systems that can work for around 15-20 ft using suction. Maybe these can be used effectively, but I think a little more correspondence with it's creator may be needed first. I'll see what I can pull up. Also, check this for current residential composting tech.

Yes we definitely need to do this in Atlas City.

That system might work where the treatment facility is immediately below the toilet, but in a city where the treatment facility may be miles away, you need the flushed water to carry the waste through the sewer pipes, we could use grey water or rainwater for this purpose.
The problem of water wastage is a symptom of a monetary society, they won't spend money on basic maintenance, Atlas city will be much more efficient and not have those problems.

Atlas is only going to be a square mile (from current projections) so this could work. Even in large plots there is no reason to use such elaborate systems, in my opinion. As composting systems are based in each unit, a similar system can be rigged for this design and used in several buildings.
