TOPIC: Greeting from South East Asia.

Greeting from South East Asia. 1 year, 4 months ago #4756

Actually have been member for quite a time already but never introduced myself properly.

My real name is not disclosed, but some here already know my real name.
Age is green 25. I'm have XY gene. Born in 14/06/1986.
I think that's all you need to know about my objective data. (No point rambling about subjective data, rite?)

What do you do and/or would like to do in Atlas City?
I live very far from the States and i have no intention in moving to the States. But, nevertheless, i can still contribute, can I?

What education do you have or would like to acquire?
I have training in civil engineering in Bachelor's degree. I would like to acquire maybe robotics or civil engineering that focuses on sustainable solution.

Are you interested in living in Atlas City?
I wanted to if it's near my place

Do you have skills to help build Atlas City?
Civil Engineering helps, won't it? But i'm not practicing c.engineering. I think my contribution would be in the form of direction and concepts.

Have you decided what committee you would like to join?
I prefer working independently. Unless a project catches my interest and the i think i can work with the already present committee member, I'll join.

Have you studied Resource Based Economies or Venus Project, what are you thoughts or concerns?
I think I have a good grasp of what RBE and VP is all about (but please note that i often use the term RBE and technocracy interchangably, although i know they are different)
My concern is the attitude of the members in AI, which often times are idealists rather than realists (including me).
I hope that we must always remember to see this Atlas Initiative as a BRIDGE from current reality toward ,rather than a ACCURATE representation of, Resource Based Economy.
This is important so that we can achieve a realistic goals rather than talking empty conceptualization.

How important do you think health and diet is in Atlas City?
I don't understand why this question came up. Of course they are the MOST important of all. Perhaps the only issue is which can be attended without the need for human labour at all.
Thus, we should focus on providing diet first, then finding ways to provide health needs without human labour.

Are you motivated by money, or integrity, love, purpose and social contribution?
I'm motivated by new knowledge.

Tell us anything else about yourself you would like?
I'm from Malaysia.

The best way to describe me psychologically would be INTP from MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator).
www.intp.org/intprofile.html... 80% accurate. Maybe less because perhaps I have lift myself from certain impulses/neurotic tendencies of the type.

The way i see things is by realizing that the whole is the sum of its part, and also a part of a greater whole (Holonic model)
My approach in making sure that RBE/Technocracy realizable is in focused effort of research.
Research requires few people although with large amount of capital. But, if worked on, it can achieve with efficient time.

Keeping in mind the holonic nature of reality, i see that we have the idea of the greater whole (which is RBE/Technocracy) and the small parts (wich are separate technology i.e robotics, renewable energy harvesting method, artificial intelligence, engineering).
The problem is we don't have the intermediary wholes/parts (a design that combines separate technologies which constitutes RBE/Technocratic principles).
IMHO, in order to make RBE/Technocracy quickly become adoptable is defining and designing these intermediaries.
Thus, IMHO again, our first goal, considering that Maslow's hierarchy of need holds true, should be finding a way to provide food free from human labour infinitely (in some sense).
I have nowhere yet to see any REALIZABLE design that tackle this goal within our time.

Additional info: My first language is not english. So, sorry for any peculiarity.

welcome. your english is just fine dont worry. I like your introduction, you seem to have put alot of thought into it.

I agree that we must consider the concept of atlas city to be a bridge, rather then an ideal implementation of a resource based economy. It is being designed as a transitionary entity, so that by itself is enough to say that it will not be capable of holding true to the complete concept of a resource based economy, but rather a vehicle to get us closer to such a goal.

Hi, I'm Malaysian too and just 2 days younger than you. After reading through your introduction, I can't help but think I am a complete ignorant douche (FYI I wasted 2 years in engineering school and eventually grab my biotechnology degree with mediocre grades, been jobless for months and failing numerous interviews, that sums me up).

Welcome by the way.

> should be finding a way to provide food free from human labour infinitely

I tend to think that with farming already well industrialised that it would actually be low down in the priority level of things, as I don't see the current aim to be one of removing human labour, only reducing it to the level that matches volunteer labour levels. (What ever they are! 4% of the population in the UK do volunteer labour I understand and 6% in Germany, what would it be if no one had to work 9 to 5 ? 10% ? and could we run everything with just 10% of people working ?)

> Born in 14/06/1986

That makes you 24 doesn't it

> a vehicle to get us closer to such a goal.

Very much my thought too.

I tend to see the priority at the moment as being one of generating an income with our own businesses, so that we can afford to build things, whatever those things are! (Be it housing, farming, transport/etc.) Then as we have those things, then we can begin to create communities and perhaps find ways to live that don't always involve making a profit, but rather running at cost price for everyone.

In my opinion grades have much to do with anything. They are a reflection of your ability to regurgitate information on command. Not a very worth while measurement of someone's intellect.
Once you realize that every beings purpose in life is to learn, it becomes easier to forgive them for their mistakes.

The future doesn’t exist. The only time we can be peaceful is now, because now is all that exists.
