TOPIC: Circular Cities

Circular Cities 1 year, 9 months ago #3653

My name is Debbie... I like to think of myself as a bee in search of the hive. I have been entertaining thoughts of circular cities for some time now, though I must admit it has been a silent affair - my meditation - until now. It seems that many of us are waking up. I want to be engaged in the process. I seek conversation.

i have a tendency to use the circular array system quite a bit when designing.

my name is pan.

I am looking for open source collaborative design.

What kind of cities are you interested in designing?

Aside from being circular?

that begs the question, however. in order to realize a near perfect circular design, land must be leveled - alot of land.

in some regions that can be difficult, and in any case it would destroy the natural wildlife and habitat
i really do like the designs however.

what?

the land directly underneath the foot print of a building will have to be leveled. But the design as a whole can be circular from above without being
two dimensional.

Irregularity in land is something to be cherished and optimized, once you get rid of the natural aesthetic of irregular land its hard to go back and flat flat will never appeal to most people as much as minor changes in elevation.

I don't try to guess at land forms with these designs, and autocad doesn't do
very good for terrain mapping, tho i can do it.

I have seen a lot of "Developments" that level the whole site, I would hope that we could be wise enough not to do that.

I believe circular cities are a great idea. Look at the design of stonehenge. Even natures perfect design the egg. But I also agree with any real estate its location.
