Atlas City Project

We want medical care to be on the forground of what Atlas stands for, and this poses some problems. Medical care is very extensive and requires large arrays of mechines and medicines. Now it is unrealistic to think we can run all of this on our own in this transitional city. We will be, basically, a free hospital with a new spin on it. As such, we can't expect to have all of the space and technology required to create EVERY type of medication and run every test (most of this stuff is sent to/from laboratory centers and not made in the hospital itself).

What we do expect is to have a very sofisticated hospital with the latest in technological imporvements. Because of our general healcare outside the hospital (organic foods, excersie, and stress free environment) we hope to not need as much space wasted by rooms as in a normal hospital. With less room needed for patients we will be allowed to utilize more room for diagnostic machines, thus higher amounts of technology per square foot (or however you want to measure it). Now, where to get these machines?

Of course, there are some we will have to buy. Hopefully, with some great engineers on our team, we may be able to create quite a few things and lessen our worries. When you think about it, we will have few people in the city(1-5000) and many hospitals run at 2-400 copacity year round. The percentage of our population sick should not average a fraction of this at one time. It's not difficult to image only needing a few dozen rooms and only one of each specified machine (xray, cat scan, ultrasound). With only needing one of each, and having few patients (as is the hope) we will have plenty of room for those new, cutting-edge machines that most hospitals don't even have. It's also not impossible to imagine donations from certain hospitals or manufacturers.

I would like those in the medical profession (as I was for a short while) to try to think of what is needed and how to get it. It's complex, I know, but just like the city concept there will be many things we will not need or won't need to such excess due to the lack of patients. If you've worked in a hospital you know there are many that are there because they are too bored to go home, homeless, drunk, or many other issues that fill up beds and won't be a problem in our city. Let's get creative, this will be the first hospital of it's kind to go with a one-of-a-kind city.

You should inquire with brett about his idea of collaborating with insurance giants to get them to build a state of the art hospital for us free of any hurtful ties to us.

He has a great idea to solve this problem and I think he posted about it on the TZMNV forums.

Now that is forward thinking.instead of putting up a sign that says slippery when wet just add anti-slip. Indeed less supplies.

Good point. I have no idea. For the start we are going to have to deal with outside meds, but I still think we won't have nearly as much sickness due to our healthy, fresh diet and fitness/exercise abilities. I do believe it is quite tricky and requires large labs to produce a wide variety of medicines, which we simply won't have until we have several cities up.

This MIT student made a MRI machine out of copper and tin wires in the school basement. It is the first MRI machine that doesn't require you to lie down for to take images as well.
