I have research about natural medicine for the past 3 months and I have to say that it is far more effective than modern medicine. The human body is used to natural stuff, not the synthetic chemicals that we take in from drugs. As a future natural health practitioner, I have learned about herbal medicine, aromatherapy, etc. and their treatments on diseases. a natural health practitioner is looking at the cause/root/source of the disease, not suppressing the symptoms using toxic drugs. We should use 100% organic food, products made from natural ingredients, purified air, purified water etc. so that we can maintain a healthy lifestyle as I've learned that toxic is everywhere in our food, water, air, personal care products, etc.

What do you think about using natural medicine as our primary medicine if you research enough?

Organic food is a mainstay of the project. We do agree what you put into your body is going to effect your body. I am intrigued by many forms of "natural healing", but have to play a little devils advocate. There are definitely many types of homeopathic and natural medicines that are effective, but you must be careful not to be scammed (which is a decent part of natural healing these days). As a biology student, I also understand the effectiveness of many modern, man-made medicines. There are definitely useful chemical compounds. There are also many useless, even harmful compounds out there. We will use peer-reviewed scientific research to determine which are going to be more accepted in the city. Without pharmaceutical companies controlling what we can't use, and advertising harmful medicines it will be much easier to determine usefulness of both ways.

Yeah I agree on your view. I found a website that could be useful on natural healing and also they found studies that proves to be effective. I found out that the pharmaceutical companies just want to make profit from people so that they can continue on their luxury while the people suffer from diseases, cancer, and so on.

Here is the website that I was talking about.

That's a good site. I just saw an article about prawns "getting high on Prozac" from water runoff.

See to be some other advisory articles that are great for those interested in health.

There are plenty other articles that are helpful for people who want to be informed about health. I'm very interested in wanting good health as I don't want some disease or cancer to come into my life.

this is a very interesting discussion.

i do not mean to hijack this thread, but it really reminds me of a discussion that floats around from here to there.

meat in atlas city.

I mean, I personally am vegetarian, but as a personal choice - I am not in a position to be wanting to force this view upon people, but the question arises, how will the city handle such functions as meat production and dealing with the health detriments of meat consumption? (being on the topic of organic and healthy foods)

We could try to build an organic farm somewhere in Atlas City. I've found a farm that sells organic meats. I never tried organic meat, but I want to.

I like meat. Sorry, just do. I think there is a big difference in enjoying ignorantly and having a conscious decision, however. It may be a useful practice that everyone that eats meat must kill their food at least once. It may sound harsh, but if movies make people vegetarian then imagine what this would do. If you have the will and fortitude to "hunt" at least once then you have the right to say you would like to eat meat.

I haven't completely thought out all the aspects of this idea. I just think everyone needs to be more responsible with what they use, especially eat. This affects everyone on a more personal level. What does everyone think?

i agree with the idea of having to kill your own food. people are so detached.

The idea of amateurs slaughtering their own food does not sound like it would help animal welfare at all, professionals at least have enough experience to do the job quickly with minimal suffering.

Imagine yourself in medieval times facing execution, would you want an experienced headsman with a sharp axe, or anyone with a sword hacking away at your neck?.

It may be O.K for people to select and watch their food being slaughtered, but the job must be done as humanely as possible.

well, when you put it that way steve, its hard not to agree with you

Hey guys, I'm new in the site.

Have you heard of Chicken Manure Energy?

www.inhabitat.com/2008/09/08/dutch-harvest-chicken-manure-to-power-90000-homes/

More investigation is needed regarding how much is needed for good energy outcome and how expensive it is, but anyway, a good idea to look at.
