Increases solar efficiency by 3x

This is a fascinating way to generate power via the solar route - and it is demonstrably viable in certain areas/climates like the Aussie outback or the U.S. southwest - solar towers with integrated wind driven turbines. This could really work. Now if our stupid congress would stop pissing away money on BS and just throw a billion or two (hey, just print it up Obama, you've already got the presses runnin'!) we may be able to see this as a reality in the near future:

Really neat designs. Of course, having a 1000 meter solar tower is a bit out of budget and space requirements

Yes, BUT - the pilot to proof of concept tower was built in Spain and showed that it actually works - and it was SMALL compared to this mammoth tower! So the towers can be scaled depending on how much power is needed for a given location. Not practical in some areas, but definitely for places like the Aussie outback or U.S. Southwest, etc.
