This is just a rough draft... Im also working on family homes and a school. The interior design is also coming soon...
Later I will put them all together to make city

Nicely done!

Good to see another Google Sketchup design. Place looks awesome. Right on!

Wild1, would you be able to export the models in sketchup and send my way. I'd like to start designing concepts for cityside viewing in Sketchup.

Thanks.

I have some ideas I'd really like to share concerning some ideas of residential structures. I may try to figure out sketch if I have some time or just make a rough drawing and scan it in (but I can't draw a straight line to save my life so be nice). Hopefully, I'll get some up in the next week (two if I have some exams this week). I just still have a concern with the design as high as it is, and not really dealing with the fact that we need several different designs based on single, double, etc room. Maybe these will be dealt with when interior design is put in, but I have an alternative I'd like everyone to look at when I actually get it posted. Plus, based on the little I know of structural cost, it may be more economical. I'll keep you posted.

Finally! It took a while to get everything sorted out, but now I can upload this. Be nice, I can't draw. This design has many benefits to it.

The outside slanted windowed wall is great for a few reasons. It can allow light in so as to grow/maintain a planter bed or aquaponics system within the domicile without the need for artificial sun. In the winter, the low rising sun produces enough heat against the glass that a heading system is not required during the day (I've tested this personally). It also allows stability from wind and allows the current to sweep up to the windmills on the roof.

The roof has a compartment on the top for collecting rain water, has a solar array, and overhanging windmills to catch the updraft. There is a company that specially makes these for skyscrapers due to the effects of updrafts on tall buildings.

The slanted design also allows for easier separation of number of rooms. The first floor is smaller, therefor for single bedroom compartments. Second for 2 bedrooms, etc. It can also be added upwards (more floors) or more compartments sideways. It also allows the residents to see from both sides of the building instead of the one side usually in hotels and apartments. The glass can, however, be frosted by electrical current (similar to many office buildings) for shade and privacy.

Between every section there will need to be a slight separation for an internal staircase to reach the inner compartments. This spare room in this section not used by the stairs can be used for electrical, water purification, etc. Due to the simplicity, yet diversity, of this design it can be easily pre-fabbed for quick setup and addons.I have to get back to class, but I'll put more pics up later.

EDIT: Also, geothermal vents can be put in the walls internally, or through the staircases to regulate heat in several units at one time. Approximately, one system per 4-6 units would be required depending on size and location.

This could be a potential inside design for a one story compartment to the slanted window building design. Planter beds can face the sun facing windowed wall for photosynthesis, and to provide shade from the heat internally. With an attached fish tank, an aquaponics system could easily be set up in each of these homes. On the far glass wall (not much if any direct sun) the living room and dinning room can be kept lit, but cool. And you don't need to worry about furniture or electronics being destroyed by direct sunlight. The entrance wall will be facing the staircase/walkway and should be insulated very well. The bedroom wall will be touching the neighboring compartment so extra soundproofing will be necessary to prevent noise transfer. Also, these will be very important in load bearing and structural support. A bathroom against the sun side glass provides heat when taking a shower or bath (don't worry no one will be able to see in). There are many types of glass that warp images, frost over and do other cool things for privacy.

Some really interesting designs here. I'm glad to see more visuals coming in. Well done!

Yes, looks very cool. Now that someone released a sketch of what they imagine the interior to look like, I can finally design something
I'll start designing tonight...hopefully...
