Atlas city concept - design of building working like trees using solar and wind energy. Plants on the roofs to circulating the air. Geothermo heating/cooling and leaving nature alone by connecting a monorail to each building.
Atlas house concept - design of house working like a tree and green house(on season growing) and indoor garden(off season growing) for growing food and medicine.

Good job man. For those who don't know, these are the pictures that were shown by Art during the meeting on Jan 23 2010

I am currently in the process of building an indoor pond in the area of the basement where the fish tanks currently are. We are actually making this into its own room, building the walls and everything.

We are also doubling this as an arboretum. Theres going to be a lot of plants in there. The outer layer of the walls will be trellis, so that the plants can grow on it as they please to. The ceiling will be the same, for any plants capable of making it up to the ceiling, they may feel free to keep growing horizontally.

This will enrich the basement with a higher air quality. Eventually, we are going to be putting in a forced air unit for the whole house which will start in the basement, of course. Nature gives us lots of free fuel, so its going to be hooked into a wood burning furnace for the winter. Needless to say -- once the forced air unit is hooked into the entire house -- the arboretum will then act as "a set of lungs" for the entire house.

Its going to be very efficient. And very pretty

These are fantastic!

What I think we should do though is focus on a lot of drawings that represent the core of the city while also creating a schematic of the technologies and other attributes contained in the core dwellings so to speak. Best way to start planning at the city is work at the core and then stretch out.

I also think if we have probable locations in mind to where Atlas City could go, that'd help us out with designing around the landscape and also know what technologies could be used for free energies. Obviously if it's in Nevada, I believe solar energy would be a huge benefit. What is the wind like in Nevada, if it's usually calm there wouldn't really be a need to do wind turbine energy. I could certainly see geothermal and perhaps large Rodin coils/zero point energy systems.

We should also see if we can solidify the building architecture for both the university and the hospital in the core of the city. We're getting some good visions for the city, and that's great, but we need to get to the focal point of the core, get that taken care of first then move onto some other ideas on the surroundings of Atlas City.

But yes, some great work here!

Yes, the sun shows in Nevada almost all the time.

Well I will tell you that there is always wind, well, out in Mesquite that is. I don't know about where the city will be, but if its somewhere up by Ely then we will be fine. Plenty of wind for the turbines up there.

Yes, I believe medicine and science is a priority, having a hospital right in the middle is an excellent idea.. quick question to Atlas, will there be a small wall around the city, not for like defense or anything, but I'm sure you could mount solar panels all around the city and then on the buildings. Having excess energy means more sell off to businesses outside Atlas.

I completely agree, thank you for posting these awesome pictures up, I also will say the natural "lungs" of the house (a.k.a arboretum) is an excellent idea. I really hope Atlas is somewhere with lots of trees.

There is nearly always sun, unfortunately solar is expensive unless we can start manufacturing some at the beginning stages of city construction. Most of the plains areas in Nevada have strong winds about twice a year (seasonal changes) that last 1-3 months, but they are very strong winds. Closer to mountain areas have much calmer, but stable winds. From studies I've seen about Nevada, geothermal is a very likely and plausible possibility. If we happen to have a strong geothermal area for the city one small generator could easily power the entire city.

For the central city concept, we should probably have some concept art for a circular city and some for regular (more square shaped) city designs. Also, implementing both solar and small (4-6 ft) wind generators on all tall buildings can be very efficient without raising prices of structural hight. A basic outline for now will be sufficient considering biomimicry and more aesthetic designs are sure to come into play later.

Yes, I wish I was an architect. I have some good ideas to how such a city could look, but have a challenging time putting it on paper. But I defintely do enjoy what I am hearing about the Atlas City core.
