Ok, this was suppose to be a fun and informative project, but it didn't turn out quite like I wanted. Maybe the 3D version will be better. This was also before the new building schematics were up and taken with my poor camera phone so you may not be able to see much.
The plan was for the greyish concentric circles to be the road/sidewalk. It would be 14 feet wide to accomodate 2 5' roads with 2' sidewalks on each side. The roads should be smaller internally since there, hopefully, won't be as much driving and more running/biking/etc. The road is mainly for transporting materials and for emergency crews.
You can see the little white buildings. I just printed out a bunch of minaturized Atlas residential 1.0 buildings and arranged them all facing north to south.
I didn't add in the solar arrays yet since it will be too small to see (maybe I'll do that in sections later). It also makes it too complicated. I wanted to print out a bunch of little trees and shrubs for in between the houses, but I'm having difficulties with my printer.
Ignore the light brown background, I just did that since Nevada is a desert and it is likely that we will have more desert-type landscaping and not grass. The dark brown lines are bike and jogging paths connecting roads and allowing travel between residential zones.
I added two pools, one on each side, but we will need much more than this. I think an entire recreation center may be required in at least four zones. There will be too many people in Atlas to have just one rec center.
I lift the center completely empty since we hadn't at the time discussed this much. There still is no concept of just how large this will be.
This is just a rough representation and could become completely off. I made it quite symmetrical, I like the organization of such designs. Because the residential buildings will be much larger on length then width this could greatly increase the difficulty in placing them so as to not make the roads too elliptical.
