TOPIC: Brainstorm Discussion: Structures for Home Living

Brainstorm Discussion: Structures for Home Living 2 years, 4 months ago #343

I felt I'd like to make these brainstorm discussion posts so we can attempt to shed some light on how we may see certain aspects of Atlas City look, feel and operate. I'd like to start with Home living. Feel free to reply to this post with your answers to the following questions:

HOME LIVING DESIGN:
-------------------

What should be the average size for the average home living domicile? (We want to make each one equal so a spacious size would be a good idea. We should also think about domociles suitable for families as well)

How do you see the design for the domociles? Are we thinking similar to Jacque Fresco's layout with pre-fab designs or are we thinking more of seperate homes? What do you believe would work best?

What items and/or technology should be placed within every domocile?

Do you foresee a multilevel design or a single-level design for home living?

Some companies that I've researched have good, sustainable ideas we can use. Here are a couple links.

www.kama-eebs.com/- Kama buildings won top 10 green buildings in 2009, article in Popular Science has one writer write about his experiences with his new house and only cost $7.04 per square foot. It's 100% recyclable and has no screws and messy installation.

Geobulb.com- LED lights, but a bit pricey still. Last for years, no harmful chemicals

ewg.com- rates products on chemical properties and their safeness or potential hazards. Topics cover off gassing and other byproducts and what illnesses they cause.

Hyperoptikusa.com- window film, 70% deflection of sun heat and nearly all UV rays

Solar.tm- solar power window film with electronic frosting. Good for privacy.

Xflexststem.com- wall paper stronger then the wall, currently being used to protect against bomb blasts.

Srsenergy.com/ustile.com- rooftiles that double as solar panels $5 a sq ft.

www.flex-crete.com/- extra strong fiberous concrete

warmboard.com- uses solar/geothermal heated water to warm wood floor bourds ($15/sq ft)

kierantimberlake.com- environmental home design, created a cellophane sustainable home with solar panels built into the walls and ceiling to supply the houses power

3m.com- glass protection, tested for storms and even bombs, reduces UN rays by 99%

Thermaladvantagewindows.com/thermaladvantage.com- high rated window and foam insulation. Windows rated higher then triple pane.
