Hi. I have autocad. autocad files can be transferred into sketchup files
and we have a program sharing system in place with Joshes help over on his wiki.

So.

I can do in autocad with precision what will be sloppy and take you 20 days
in prolly 6 or 8 hours. (to do in sketchup)

Then i transfer it over, and you paint it like you like it.

To do this, You need to tell think through what you want me to draw.

1. How tall is this building?

2. How many stories does it have and how thick is each story?

3. What are the assorted rooms inside of this building and what is each
for and how is each used?

4. How wide is this building?

5. How tall is this building?

(And questions you can answer with pencil sketches on napkins or pizza boxes scanned onto your puter or just a paint program.)

6. What does a side view of this building look like?

7. If different sides are different looking, show each side?

8. What does this building look like from the top down? birds eye view?

9. How does this building stand up architecturally for support?

If you give me that much, I will give you back 3-D models of buildings.

I have a rough working macro map now of Asiom City. Details will be put in as
we work on buildings and as I add buildings from my own hobby library.

In short, this is a collaborative project. I am designing a city, you can
use this thread to ask me to help you design an entirely new layout which is
yours, or to design a building which can be placed by anyone collaboratively
in any version of the whole city.

I'm going to move very quickly through the design of Asiom City and that report should be mostly finished in about two weeks or a month. Then I will expect to come back to the focus with you and Design Atlas City.

Tho theres no reason why we can't do both at the same time, the main difference is that I'm going to take the initiative and breeze past what can be breezed past and sort of run everyone through designing a whole city.

That way others will be more prepared to understand what and how to interact when we then work together on Atlas City.

In short, Asiom City is "My " City and I am "the god" of it, tho this is a collaborative project the reason for this is that I'm going to do a lot of things educationally in a very short period of time and THEN come back to genuine open source collaboration to start with working out things like the layout and etc.

That being said, heres what i have so far.
---------------------------------------------
Asiom Theme Park

1. Asiom Theme park is a demonstration miniature self sufficient city, done in the style of a tall building village.
2. The minimum height of any building in Asiom theme park is 7 stories. The maximum Height is 24.
3. Asiom theme park is a demonstration eco city installation, functioning for buildings as the equivalent of;
A; Large scale, supersize condominimum style Hotels; population (employees) 100, And 100 apartment units per installation building cell, for
repetitions out to 10 thousand inhabitants.
B; Geothermal Power Station
C; Geothermal Reservoir Artificial Lakes and Pools; Hot water Theme Park (to be detailed below)
D; Greenhouses per residential installation sufficient to feed the inhabitants of each installation.
E; Office Building(s)
F; School(s) (for the children of the residents or for the children of visiting guests, and for the adult guests,
thus, the lions share of the employees.)

G; Janitorial Building (The next largest Lions share of Employees)
H; Main Entrance Building
I; Mens/Womens/Both Lockers Building(s)
j; Track Coliseum
K; Sports Coliseum
L; Pool Coliseum
m; Water Works Port
N; Geothermal Steam Gymn(s)
0; Stonehenge Re-Creation
P; Open Quarry Rock Pit Mine
R; Dirt and Ore Processing Plant
S; Extrusion Facility
T; Machine Shop
U; Macroworks Conveyor Belt and Robot Arm Construction Building
v; Cable Cars Main Port Building
W; Cable cars Station Building
X; Security Tower
Y; Security Wall
Z; Area Wall

AA; Hospital
BB; Construction Vehicles And systems Garage
CC; Police Station
DD; Jail
EE; Restaurant(s)
FF; Construction Crane
GG; Crane Rail

4. The Geothermal power system aside from providing for the energy needs of the park and then later the city allows for and even
suggests a large reservoir of water, being exchanged slowly through the system. This in turn brings up aquaculture and irrigation
as well as heating and for some installation sites plant protection from the elements thus green houses.

5. Thus in all cases the energy potential to be maximized here is what can be done with a large scale geothermal power station.
The answer to that is that you can potentially heat a very large amount of water to very comfortable temperatures and keep it heated
indefinitely. Now what to do with hot water? obviously, you'd bathe in it. There are hot tub spas and hot springs and hot etc resorts
all over. Harbin Hot Springs comes to mind. Well, what if you go out into the middle of nowhere, install a closed system zero leak water
table, never lose any water except from evaporation, and cycle hot water via geothermal heat at 110 degrees all over the place so that its
on tap for bathing? You can even heat a whole greenhouse that way by having the right size pool in the center of it.

6. The Theme park will actually grow by building slowly until it reaches climax energy potential and is ready to begin work on the City.

7. Initially there will be a gust hotel and an employee hotel and this will then expand over time, well before 100 employees are serving 10
thousand persons another four or ten employee housing complexes will be opened up.

8. As critical mass is achieved the theme park goes out of business as such and spends the capital it earned for 40 years collecting
as a theme park to actually reverse the capital situation. It then hires a construction crew to inhabit the theme park and begins to work
on the city.
(And long time residents can become construction workers if they wish.)

9. Aside from buldings, Asiom City will also build its own boats, which will foat up and down the artificial rivers created to make the city pleasant
and do irrigation and etc.
What should be considered here is a hot water distribution network to assorted pools of water, many of which will only end up being "Hot" near the
hot water entrance. (Cooling from 110 down to 80 degrees is considered the standard, and cold water inside of Asiom Theme Park should be hard to find except on
tap.

10. So a hot water plumbing water distribution network will distribute hot water to a surface boat water distribution network.. lol.
This will take the form of a series of motes connected by radial lines.

11. We want this place to be fully modern in all ways to the extent that it is transparently the next evolutionary step for a city.

Asiom City

1. Asiom City is a full scale implementation of a truly modern and truly modern scale sized city, done in the style of a dense metropolitan Tower Cluster.
2. While Asiom city will continue to use articifical rivers to float large transportation, the water won'tbe heated outside of the theme Park.
3. Asiom city buildings will be a minimum of 24 stories tall, with most buildings expected to rise as high as 200 stories.
4. These high rise buildings will be large based buildings and give new meaning to the word "Castle" Instead of being a single super tower rising
into the sky, we are going to connect sky scrapers together.
5. Asiom City will have the same list of buildings as used for the the them park but these buildings will be much much larger now.
6. For instance, each apartment building will now have say 1000 or 10 thousand cells, .... for repetitions out to one billion inhabitants.
7.

I've created the Atlas City Sketchup uploader. Click here to go to the site.

Prometheus, I'll release the software with AtlasCity as a selection in a bit.

kewl. Atlas City may want to have their own on site as may RBEF and RBOSE.

I don't have anything to add myself just now, as i am 5 hours behind and still have to get the roofs and windows on the first request project.

You know, its a new thing to work according to specifications and i had to get used to the idea that i couldn't wing it. lol

Not the same game as drawing to please myself..

at least now we have the link for the Atlas City folks.

i gotta go work now...

Prometheus, if RBOSE is interested in hosting sketchup files on my site, tell them to email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

I'd assume, since you mentioned them, that you talk to at least some of their members quite a bit, so even if you got some of them on board, that would be cool.

well, I just got done one round with them and IRC chat. Things were mostly good but just bad enough that I warned them three times and then left.

I am still in touch with BranMan...

Anyhow, the point I'd like to make is that while for the near immediate future hosting on your site is fine, people are going to want to host them
on their own site i think fairly soon, once the conversation on the image level picks up.

RBOSE will be wanting the software or making its own.

As far as trying to link people together thats a bit much for me-
I'm trying to be a good bridge between RBEF and everyone else. Trying to
then make extra bridges on the side is a lot to ask even for me.

Especially since RBOSE and I didn't seem to fully hit it off.

Obviously, TVP and RBOSE and Promethean Workers and Etc all kind of people would be interested if they knew what we are up to...

But i will leave it up to RBEF, Atlas, and You to spread the word.

I already left huge info chunks for them on their wiki..lol

Just to let you know, for JME (Jmonkeyengine) can you export to .obj or .3ds file types so that they can be loaded?

So this has been a bigger challenge than I anticipated. Its been a long time since I had to do some body elses pattern and I have gotten used to doing things my own easy way. lol

After a good first round and second round I realized that I had misread the
image and created a a frame instead of arched wing.

Putting windows on these things is a beotch.

Usually i make it easy for myself by doing it all in a way that works out easy for the array functions.

The irregularity of this building made it deceptively complicated.

I also have to apologize for stalling out.. some things came up and my screen died over the weekend.

For now I am putting this on a back burner with intent to come back and start over. Version 3 should be a lot better.

So for this building several questions still are unanswered. What goes on inside? How does the structure hold up? Is the scale more like the smaller or larger size as seen in the last picture?

I have to say i don't like this building that much. Its too basic, it reminds
me of the 18th century.

On the other hand it really did give me a good challenge, and I will definitely want to come back and do this a third time to get it detailed and
right since I have already started.

But since we are investing all of this energy into this building I'm wondering how its used and etc.

Perhaps most importantly, how will the finished images and models fit into
the city plan, onto the wiki, into assorted presentations?

What kinds of images do we need from the models?

Its the first thing i ever loaded to the warehouse. Not sure why i had to try it.

Anybody want the sketchup model?

Hi Prometheuspan

You have done a great work (I hope you didn´t take for much time for this building). Well this building have some challange
I want to reflect over the questions.

But the last question, I think the scale is perfect .

However the insperation of this building came from my skyscraper pictures collection. And the original building looked like.

I am very impressed by the work being done here.

Those buildings are coming out very nicely and look quite professional.

Good work!!

well, its been a challenge. You certainly improved the basic 2d design fer
showability.

I will definitely tackle this again... but i made so many mistakes i got burned out for a bit on it.

3rd copy I will go for blue prints...

So... whats next you guys?
