I am trying to get these into sub-groups and maybe try and make ball park estimates on how soon our city would automate these things. This is a pretty massive very wide ranged list, but all of these things will benefit from automation and robotics, most of all freeing up more spare time.

Atlas City Automated, renewable non-polluting energy, free of charge, LESS(to none)WASTE, no place for human errors if everything is automated, using the best technology and science currently avalible.

Automation needs to be applied everywhere!

self errecting Buildings

automated infrastructure

Air Circulation/Heating&Cooling

automate recycling, trash sorting, (no TRASH) materials economy

Fully automated house(Blinds, Doors, Windows, Appliances, HVAC, personal Rosie Jetson robot, or the intel Herb Butler)

Automation of Farming - Livstock, Plants, H2O, Electricity
Livestock - Cows, Pigs, Goats, Sheep, Rabbits, Fish, Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Turkeys...
Automated Cow Milking is the industry "norm"
computers and robots(simple machines) can control which field can be grazed in, what they are eating, how much food, scientifically keep an eye on the livestock.

Gardening(h2o, ph, ect.)
water pumps, irrigation and nutrients for plants and animals
Plants
Harvesting

Water - well, electric pump, tubes connect to everything...

Electricity - non-polluting, Wind, H2O, Solar, Geothermal, depends on your location.
Lights
Security

Food Processing, Preparations And Distributing needs will be fully automated from raising on the farm to delivery systems.
All dry solid foods, such as cereal, are easily vacumed throught pipes to outlets.
Liquids are easily pumped in tubes.(milk, juices, water, beer?)
Abundance goes to warehouse to start the shelf rotation, for abundance we always need extra, to keep everything fresh automation will rotate product as needed.
Cooking
AutoBake machines are already easily available but costly

Transportation - Self and/or Public
transportation of goods.
Mag-Lev

textiles

automated clothing makers, pick your own style

redesign how goods and foods are packaged for less (hopefully no) waste

Storage - Warehouse inventory - Storage(abundance of our resources is essential)
all done warehouse style with automated robots
you select your item from your Atlas handheld wireless tablet or where the dispensery is.
Food Fridges
Dry Food Pantry
Clothing
Toys and Stuff, Batteries

Cleaning
Roomba by iRobot "let the robots do the work for you"
Automated Car/Mag-Lev Washes

just some random questions that comes to mind.

How many buildings? For what purposes are the buildings there?
Can it be all self-contained for ease of access and automation?

i like this route you are going on.

yes in atlas city we would want to automate as much as we possibly could, but what defines possible?

in the beginning, we probably will not have self erecting buildings. I say probably because I cannot predict the future, but I can say that it is currently not the norm for such technology to be used. Yes it would be ideal for us to have access to such tech, but we currently do not.

where you are going on other topics however, these could be spot on. For example, the gardening (which I like to call agriculture) section is planning to be highly automated.

Then some of these get into the ethical side. For example, automated milking of cows. Well, that can bring up an entire other argument.
I like where this is going though.

As far as your questions go, let me address them by saying that we currently do not even have rough estimates for how many buildings there will be, or what their functions could be. For us to begin to determine this, our city must have its backbone developed, namely an industry, which we are currently working on developing, so hang in there while we figure this out. Yes, alot of buildings can be roughly estimated, for example food production, so dont let me stop you in those regards.

I think the home automation is the easiest for now as "smart homes" are being designed in such ways. It's actually depressing how high tech some designs for these homes were decades ago, but pushed aside due to cost.

I think some easy ones that follow would be mundane jobs such as mailmen, garbage collectors, janitors, etc. That's something that can be done with some very basic robotic designs (or the Roomba like you stated).

Some of the ideas, like self erecting houses, would be a little more difficult. Mainly, they are the most worrisome due to there being no production basis yet. We can't use tech that's already there and adapt it. Entire facilities would need to be created for this purpose. It'll be a great day when that's closer to realization, though.
