TOPIC: Human resorce

Human resorce 1 year, 4 months ago #4489

I have recently discovered this group after posting some feeler threads on TZM forum and being very disappointed with the results so far. as one of your members mentioned it seems that TZM has taken on many characteristics of a religion which is disconcerting given one of it's very first tenants aimed to decrease the negative impact that such things would have on society. but i may post more on that topic in a more suitable thread.
I actually live in central IA, however I have ties to land in Nevada which may be of some use, depending. I am not a particularly social person, especially when it comes to online interaction, I have joined this forum because I rather obsessively try to fix anything that I perceive to be broken, or operating outside of ideal parameters, and TVP seems to be the best solution to THE problem. I could safely say that i am a highly technically skilled individual, and i relish the opportunity to exercise or improve upon my skill or knowledge set. I am also a man of action, i spend very little time in any initial planning stage because i find that anything that has been done before already has a good working outline, and anything that hasn't will never have enough existing data to successfully lay one out.
I do have a plan for a seed community that i have mentioned in TZM forum, and i am trying to find other like minded, technically skilled individuals to actively assist me in testing out the real world applications of some of the things that we have only been theorizing about.

yep that was me, welcome to the Atlas forum

it really quite scarey how it's done that ,things might change for the movement once "moving forward" is released but i doubt it,

what gets me most is the almost blind belief that after the collapse of the various world economies somehow this resource based economy is going to just pop up, it's almost like PJ has become the next Jesus by the way some of them are talking,,,

seeding is probably the best way either by self sufficent communities growing all their food or by groups in suburbia simply pooling resources as long as the right mindset is achieved

anyway welcome to the forum
anyone can get a block of land grow food and survive and probably for the rest of their natural life , but to "live" is a whole different thing

Glad to see you here machinist. I've been hoping to hear from you since I've been blocked from TZM and had to other way to contact you.

It's intriguing that you have land in Nevada, since that is where we are based. We definitely think waiting for the collapse (as TZM, TVP does) is not the right way to go. I think we would all like to see what types of partnerships, connections and support we can all offer each other.

I guess we should start from the beginning. What are some of your options with your land? Where exactly is it, size, resources (power, water, etc.) are available?

Take a look around the site. I know it's a bit cluttered. Don't be afraid to ask some members or the Oversight Committee anything that is ambiguous or unanswered.

The land is an air field that has been in my extended family for a few generations, unsure really of the back story, but i believe one of my grandfather's brothers restored old aircraft there. Several years ago the runway had apparently become unusable and he decided to retire. When he died it was left to his son, who as far as i know lives in mane. He has no use for it and he has contacted some of us expressing a desire to let the property go. I believe his wishes are to have one of us carry on the family business, so to speak. However, the cost to have a runway put in that meets modern FAA standards is most likely prohibitive. I have seen this property once about three years ago when i was in Nevada. I had herd stories about it and i just decided to have a look. I remember it had a well, small water tower, a few good sized hangars that were in assorted states of dilapidation, each with diesel generators, some tool room equipment, an office, some aircraft grade scrap, and that's about it. the "road" that lead to it was challenging in the jeep i was driving and surprisingly long. So just about anyone who looked at the property would basically just consider it an isolated collection of garbage, and that it may be. However, it does seem to have the necessities of life and some of the necessities of industry. I know very little about agriculture, and i have no idea if food crops can be grown in the surrounding soil, but i thought perhaps some kind of hydroponic setup might be installed in one of the hangars, and there is plenty of room for livestock. So a small group could sustain themselves, and connect to the internet via satellite to educate and entertain themselves, and connect to the outside world.
There is a significant amount of effort required to acquire this property. Not least of which convincing an elderly relative i barely know that I would be able to use it in a productive manner, there are also taxes, titles, probably some kind of hazardous waste cleanup from all the oil and fuel, ect. So I need to find support first in the form of skilled aid before i can begin anything.
I'd rather not give the location of my families unprotected property. I'm sure you can understand that, What I was hoping for was to find individuals to join me, start a micro society, begin some kind of industry, and try to seed the Venus Project. These individuals would have to be highly skilled, and talented, as I'm sure that very few people could be supported by this location at the onset, and taking anyone on who could not contribute significantly would vastly limit our likelihood of success. These would not have to be professionals of course, and i would prefer that they not be. High level hobbyists always have a fanatical passion and drive about their hobbies than high level professionals seem to lack. I do realize that people of this level of skill who are willing to leave their lives and go hang out in the desert are rare at best, but Atlas, Venus, and TZM seem to be the best place to find them.
I Also feel that we all need to stop waiting for this "great collapse" it's not like some day, a few years down the road people are going to turn on some loudspeakers and say "Ladies and gentlemen, society has just fallen apart, proceed to freak the fuck out". Human beings are highly adaptive, and capitalism is a perfect machine who's only function is survival. Fossil fuels, for instance, we still use them because they are still more economically feasible than alternative energy, other options are out there but the bottom line doesn't add up. We are not going to run out of oil and coal all at once, it will simply get more and more scarce, and as that scarcity increases, so will the cost, thus making alternative energies the better choice. the planet will smell better, but we will still be slaves to the dollar. Global warming, it is inevitable, the earth has a natural cycle of warming and cooling, and from the fossil records it appears that we are at the end of an unusually cold snap. it's possible that we are increasing the temperature artificially ourselves slightly, but it will still get hot if we stop. this may increase the oceanic levels. this will happen slowly and those on the coasts will gradually move inland, the world will be different, but we will still be slaves. The only way to end capitalism is to show humanity that there is another option and show examples of it WORKING. People are inherently leery of risk, and there are very few people who are able to set those fears aside and put forth an effort to follow their ideals in the face of absurd odds. I just hope I can find a few of those people.

i wouldn't necessarily say the only way, it would be the most desirable way, however i doubt the governments of the world are simply going to let the groups function the Internet censorship ideas and being pushed by the Australian government in a very hard way , now we're spending $43billion to build a fibre network under the guise of "better net access" really when it comes down to it the Internet access on it will be filtered and you can bet your bottom dollar sites like this will be blocked, they are already on the lists that have been leaked,

a collapse of the dollar honestly... the dollar won't collapse simply because the people who control it can't afford it to, they will either let it and have something in it's place e.g. the euro and the aero, and people will use it eventually ... I doubt we'll see society collapse in the manner projected by the various movements, basically the people in power have a plan they've been manipulating and moulding people into certain mindsets for decades now and we've all become very predictable they know what society will take and they know where to stop,

seeding is probably the best option however i don't think anyone is going to get very far very quickly going out to a block of land and trying to live "one foot in one foot out" it's never going to work in the long run,

ideally you want a large group of people and as a group capable of producing everything the group needs to "live" not just "survive" I'm talking everything from wire to clothing to food everything we use today to live outside the real luxuries even things like being able to produce silicon based logic gates and processors, a source of crude oil...etc

> you can bet your bottom dollar sites like this will be blocked

I seriously doubt that.

Especially is sites like this are low bandwidth. (And as long as they comply with all legal requirements so as not to draw undue attention to themselves in a negative fashion..)

Before the internet we had dial up BBS systems, these are still in use today and function as perfectly (If not better..) as bandwidth hungry broadband online forums do now.

As such, I see little is going to stop our communication.

I see the government very much as an ally in endeavours like this, and we need to work with them, rather than against them.

i still dial up to a bbs here in sydney every so often,

personally i wouldn't count any government in on anything to do with an RBE
maybe one of these poorer countries where the people are starving they might be very welcoming to the idea but not the states and definetly not here our pollys can't even say the word abundant

I think one of the ways to sell an RBE style community to a government is to mention how it will cut welfare payment requirements, and at the same time, improve tax revenue because of its drive to produce export goods.

One could even imagine such a community getting special tax exemption status as some enterprize zones have done around the world.

I think its mostly about the words one chooses when talking with them, we might say:

abundant, they would understand the word, cheap instead.

welcome, i am glad to see such interesting discussions popping up.
i have to agree that a seed community seems to be the best idea which i am aware of currently.

also i have to agree about the unlikeyhood of a societal collapse.

as far as the land goes, the machinest, i applaud your desire to go jump start this concept, as far as our group goes, we have taken alot of time and have been doing alot of planning, and we still have a long ways to go. i would be worried about you jumping out to start something with a few people in hopes of it taking off. I recommend to at least plan an industry and how your community will look before starting something, and best of luck to you, for it is in both of our best interests if you are successful.

Glad to see you found your way here machinist. I read the post on TZM forums about the land you have. Atlas is planning on a larger scale than what it sounds like you are looking for, though I could be mistaken. We are looking for a land donation to our cause but we are also collecting donations in an effort to get enough money to buy our own land if a donation of land never happens.

We always need more technically skilled people to join Atlas. We have already attained a following, enough to get things done. Check out the site and ask questions. Let us know what you think.

Oversight has been busy lately, in between our regular lives, we are planning our meeting on the 22nd of this month. Should be pretty big, it would be nice to see you there. You can attend by internet or in person.

We need the help of people like you. Anyone who is willing to work with us, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and ask what you can do! We are working towards the solution that will become reality. A smaller starting community may be a good approach to launch our effort in my opinion.
