Yes, basically socialism in Sweden relied on the economic growth of the 50s and 60s to make the success that it did. When that failed it failed.

You can learn lessons from the social engineering in Sweden. Especially from Rosengård where the social engineers designed the housing after their view of the nature of the "modern human", which failed when real people moved in. Something important there for any city or community design.
Another thing to learn; success can have it problems. Because the system reach such a high level of success no one questioned it. So, when problems started to occur no one fixed them. To me that highlights the need to question things; even the good things.
