Hutterites live in a money free society, and we can learn a lot from them.
Since I have had no response to email, I have left a message to the Hutterite Manager. Here are the questions I have when he calls back - feel free to post any you have:
1) What industry has been most successful for your community?
2) Why are your communities limited in size (roughly a few hundred per)?
3) How do you handle land ownership, city building and residence planning?
4) Do you use Earthship concepts or green technologies?
5) How important do you feel religion is in the success of your community? Do you think a non-denomination group would meet equal success? Why?
6) How do you manage utility services, such as garbage, watyer, sewer, electric?
7) How do you manage personal demands that may be expensive or excessive?
8) What suggestions do you have for a start up city?
9) Why do you exist in Northern states only? What are those advantages? Do you foresee problems in a Southern State like Nevada?
10) Do you have any suggestions for land acquisition?
11) In what ways do you still use money and how do you manage that?
12) Do individuals have cars, boats, cell phones, expensive jewelry and how do you manage that?
13) What community recreation services are provided and how important is that?
14) What community health care services are provided and how do you manage that?
15) What community education services are provided and how do you provide professional skilled labor?
