I will try to attend via DimDim since I will still be out of town. I started another event from the Atlas facebook account, and also from the CityNet3000 facebook account. Hopefully, we will see a surge in online participation for this meeting.

Also, since Auroville seems to be back in contact with us, this may be a good thing to suggest they participate in. Josh, if you want to try to set something up. If not, it wouldn't be a bad time to get some more Q & A to ask them.

I have posted the event on CityNet3000 and their 1200+ (and ever climbing) membership, as well as posted it on the New Z-Land Project site and sent an email to Chris from Ecotownz UK. Hopefully, we will have a variety of people and groups at this meeting. Partnership is very important. Is there any plan for the agenda for this meeting yet? May want to add a few things that other groups may be interested in hearing, kinda show them what we have done and what we plan to do.

The meeting is in 20 minutes, but DimDim says there is no scheduled meeting. That's not good considering how many people in other groups I contacted. Anyone know what's going on?

It always says that because the admin of that account hasn't scheduled one...just throw out a notice to those people letting them know there is in fact a meeting, and just for them to refresh there browsers starting at 10:20 PST, 12:20 CST, 14:20 EST.

Went well. Quite a few new people and from other groups. Interesting questions and ideas were raised. I think it went really well.

prometheus, it went well.

i decided to talk about the work you and chase are doing, especially with the housing design.

i also noted how you have been doing 3d conceptual design work for buildings.

keep up the good work.

I agree it went very well. This meeting I think, should be the basis that we reach for in terms of how we went through the information.

For the next meeting which I think is going to be a working meeting for Oversight, I have purchased some new equipment and I want to try a new format with the technology we use during the meeting.

I bought a video camera for recording plus I am going to upgrade DimDim so we can have dual recordings of our meeting. Also I am thinking of building a Linux box that will be used strictly for our meetings so everyone can link up to the box as a server and share all the files available.
Once you realize that every beings purpose in life is to learn, it becomes easier to forgive them for their mistakes.

The future doesn’t exist. The only time we can be peaceful is now, because now is all that exists.

I am genuinely happy to be able to say that I fully agree with you. Its actually amazing that absolutely everyone has been agreeing on this point and it is wonderful to see. Regardless of who I've spoken to: be it EdenPrime here in Chicago with me, Brett, Josh -- regardless: everyone has been extremely pleased with the outcome of this last meeting.

Personally, I rather enjoyed the "call in number" capabilities. It was amazingly convenient and extremely professional.

You had mentioned to me on our phone conversation a long time back that you were interested in learning more about Linux, seeing as Linux does embody the very spirit of RBE. Of course I will acknowledge that Venux has obscene potential as well. In the mean time however, I am sure that Josh and I would be happy to assist you, especially if you choose to run Ubuntu.

Perhaps Ubuntu is a personal bias, however: it is the most easy and user friendly Linux System out there -- so much so that Dell even made a really awesome commercial for it:

I think you are heading in a very productive direction with the Linux Box idea, Rob. I support you on it 100%. Though there is a "Server Edition" I think the Desktop Edition offers more convenience and of course, it is fully capable of running absolutely any sort of server you might desire to run. The "Server Edition" merely eliminates a lot of the "end user conveniences" and pre-installs more of the "business class stuff" by default. Though there is absolutely nothing stopping you from installing these things to a Desktop Edition install and it is amazingly easy.

Not to mention, for when a Windows Application might be needed to run, PlayOnLinux supports a great deal of Windows Applications, allowing them to run directly on Linux.

For example: Many of the softwares I use for multimedia are in fact Free and Open Source *Windows* Softwares, but they run perfectly on my Ubuntu Desktop.

If you are looking for a cost-effective but reliable machine to set this up on, I can post some links to one of my vendors where I got my IBM ThinkCenter Corporate Class Servers for under $100! Fully loaded with everything except the kitchen sink!

Anyways, I've ranted enough. Everyone gets the idea that this meeting went extremely well and has influenced us all into more positive directions. I am pleased to see it. I had a lot of fun the last meeting and you can rest assured that I will be participating this way in every single future meeting, pending schedule incompatibilities and such.

Thank you all again for having me. It truly was an awesome experience and I am sure the best is yet to come!

Sometimes you can find them on Pricewatch: www.pricewatch.com
I got mine specifically from GearSX: www.gearxs.com/gearxs/product_info.php?products_id=12901

Thats the best deal I see on there now. NEVER get the Dells though. Yuck. Dell Laptop = FTW. Dell Desktop = TIME BOMB.

Sometimes GearSX has like craploads available and other times its just one or two. Right now I saw two servers like this. The last time I checked there were like 15. So, do not abandon hope! I've seen them as low as $68!

Bason Computers has LIMITED stock but when they have something you need, goddamn do you get a deal! www.basoncomputer.com

They even have a "don't like our price? let us know!" and you can haggle with them a bit!

Oh and I just found some 17" LCD Monitors for $65 Pondering the idea of getting a couple www.accurateit.com/details.asp?iid=1634

hope this helps!
