Atlas City Project

hey guys,

at first i like to say how glad i am that somebody is beginning to put words into action! you are awesome!

have you guys ever heard of an experimental city called Auroville that was founded in 1968 in India? they planned to build a city inhabited by 50,000 people from all over the world, trying to live in coexistence with nature cultivating their spiritual practice beyond any monetary system. now they are about 2,000 people living there and the city is still developing towards their goal. they settled in a desert near the city pondicherry and managed to create lakes and a system of dams and canals to re-green the area. today the surroundings are covered with so many trees, that they even can export timber to the surrounding villages. they are collecting solar energy and use other methods to produce electricity, educate people of they surrounding areas in environmental farming etc. they even developed a machine for producing bricks of pressed unburned mud to build houses perfectly adapted to the climate. i have never been in nevada, but i guess the conditions of a north american desert compared to an indian desert are pretty similar.

anyway, i thought this might be quite inspiring for you guys and you could probably adapt some methods or, in further time, get in contact with some of their scientists.

This is what I am talking about. Seeing a town like this coming together and seeing such a strong unity of wonderful, positive-minded hard working people putting together a place without the idea of the completely idiotic monetary system...Auroville is very inspiring. I would love to do a video tonight to show my thanks to everyone in Auroville. You guys are indeed the template to help get the gears going with Atlas City. Thanks again MindMonkey. Introducing this to us has been a tremendous help. I love the Auroville video. Absolutely inspiring!

This is a great thing! I loved the video and they are very brave for what they did. I too found a great deal of inspiration from this community. I sent an email and I certainly hope we can get through to them. Their brick technology could prove to be extremely useful.

i am glad that i could help... they basically had the same vision as you guys but they are in their 4th decade now. perfect to exchange some knowledge and learn from them. i can't wait to visit auroville...

Fantastic Video of Auroville! Truly inspirational for what we are embarking on regarding the conceptualization and realization of Atlas City. It makes me want to run right out and begin making bricks so we can really have a amazing future for all of humanity.

Same here man. Soon as I saw this, I'm like "Okay, let's get some land and make atlas city right now!" lol

Great movie. and Auroville is only on 135 acres. Look at the land section we have and the lowest are 640 acres. We will have plenty of room. I really like their use of biogas and windmills for nearly all of their production needs. Granted, they only have 1750 people living there, but if you see the movie a great percentage of the 135 acres is for plants, dams, etc. and not used as efficiently as we may be able to make it. It was very interesting just how much they could make with the earth-bricks and fericement for virtually no cost.

Yes, I'd say once we have the means and are ready to pursue, let's grab that 640 acres. It will be plenty for our new home.
