The best way to give valid, longitudinal data is in accurate and consistent record keeping. From medical records to personal journals, there will not likely be better insights to our psychological and physical health as individuals and as citizens of this proof-of-concept city. It's even important to keep records before hand, to compare changes for the better or worse later on in life.

Personally, I keep a dream journal, random writings and thoughts, notes of special events and dates, and always tell someone when something physically strange seems to occur. Who knows, these records may give a clue to save my life someday. More then likely, however, they may lead to studies of before and after lifestyles in greatly varying social structures. Food for thought for anyone that cherishes true data.

i can imagine in the city we would want our record keepings to be mostely as paperless as possible.

hello giant data centers, anyone?

but dream journals. I have wanted to start one but I can never remember my dreams, even right when i wake up. Perhaps I will try it sometime however.
How does that work out for you chase?

It only works well when you have a well scheduled sleep pattern (which usually I don't). I was really into it last year, but have recently only written down lucid dreams or very interesting ones. It takes a few weeks to get use to writing immediately when you wake up (or even during the night if it wakes you up), and takes months to get the hang of everything. It's a long process, but considering how long we sleep it's well worth it.

I've also had ideas for games, movies and other creative aspects when reading through some dreams months later. It gives introspection onto the events effecting your life at the times so you can consciously see the differences and what was really bothering you. I've still only had a handful of "lucid" dreams I can remember, but many claim to be able to have a few every night. If we get in the habit now it could be greatly useful in years from now when we all become experts
