Boy genius creates robotics for DNA sequencing at age 13 and wins MIT prize.

This is a joke in so many ways:
1. You don't need a robot to replicate DNA, you need a pot you can heat and cool repeatedly and a few specific enzymes
2. The equipment does not cost 10000$
3. Doing whatever the robot does is pointless... the purpose of doing it in the first place is to have the quantities carefully calibrated, not pumped in and out randomly by a bunch of loosely attached legos
4. Even if you do create a cheap modular system like that, by the time you get it all properly certified, it will cost more than 10000$ (the point of certification is to force manufacturers to use approaches that guarantee reliable results; without reliable equipment to do experiments with, doing it produces little or no usable results)
5. I have seen more sophisticated lego setups 10 years ago, when there were no NXTs.
6. etc...
