I had a thought the other day. When people initially move in there will be married couples and other relationships that will likely move in together. Now, if they later break up/divorce do both parties have to move? Should we initially put only one persons name as the responsible party, will they both move, will they have to work it out themselves, what happens when they can't agree, what if all other rooms are full?

We could do an apartment survivor episode! lol J/K!

I am not sure. I think as much as we dont want to we may have to have an appointed group whom can decide on problems such as this. But that leads to power mongering and control. This is a deep problem indeed. Maybe the real problem is that marriage is a failed institution and we should focus on the real problem which is the concept of marriage instead of trying to bandaid the symptoms.

What do you think?
Once you realize that every beings purpose in life is to learn, it becomes easier to forgive them for their mistakes.

The future doesn’t exist. The only time we can be peaceful is now, because now is all that exists.

We have to bandaid for those that want to keep their system. I see it as one of two ways:

Each unit is designated to one person, even if there is a marriage. They can decide who. If there is turmoil and one person needs to move out it will be whoever is not listed, unless they work some other arrangement out.
OR
No one is listed and if there is conflict and that can't be worked out by them all parties need to move out. If there is open space we can put them somewhere else, if not I don't know.

I guess it will need a Domestic Affairs Committee?

We could possibly eliminate the whole marriage thing like the last post. But I think as the morals and motivations change, people will have other understandings in a relationship. I don't really know if that makes sense, but as society around a person will change the person can possibly change too..

this is an extremely difficult question to answer
i mean, how do you determine what is "fair"?

generally speaking, the most fair way would be to either
1. allow for mutual agreement of 1 party leaving
or
2. if no agreement can be made, both parties must move.

One or two people (a couple) can occupy a one bedroomed apartment until they have children and move into a 3 bedroomed apartment, (a subtle hint not to have more than two children), if the couple separate, the apartment goes to the partner with custody of the children.

Nearby one room apartments can be used for temporary guests.

I am not sure if any or the same motives that the couple would break up in the first place will still be there.. Being that the whole mentality of a couple breaking up today is either having an affair, money problems. etc. Philosophy may change when their environments are altered and they begin to develop different values about the whole reason why they got into that relationship in the first place.

Has there been any discussion on types of apartment?

1. a studio apartment, a single room about 6 metres by 5 mtrs, with a drop down double bed with wardrobes either side, a drop down table with storage behind it, minimal additional storage, a small kitchen with breakfast bar and a small room with W/C, shower and handbasin.
should be enough for 1 or 2 people who do not entertain much.

2 a 1 bedroomed apartment.

3 a 3 bedroomed apartment each with en-suite shower and W/C

4 an open plan apartment, a single room 20 mtrs by 6 mtrs and using moveable floor to ceiling furniture to act as room dividers with additional wall and door section room dividers.

There may not be sufficient reason for people to become couples in the first place, but if they do, it is less likely that they will stay together for life than it is in a monetary society.
