TOPIC: MOVE ON. My Personal Strategy contribution to RBE

MOVE ON. My Personal Strategy contribution to RBE 1 year, 9 months ago #3681

As I see it at atlasinitiativegroup.org there are not really many people involved yet.
Essential groups like robotics are completely empty!
I am searching for an initiative to build in fact one city that will show the world the effectiveness of RBE, or which will prove to us that it is utopia. One of the things mentioned will happen, but i want to see something happen.
In order to keep this structured: If you answer and refer to some point, please write:

@POINT (e.g. @FUNDRAISING)

What I suggest:
CREW
We should launch a college campaign, make allies with professors and recruit students.
We need specialists. People who know what they are doing, when talking about architecture, robotics, etc..

FUNDRAISING
Then we should think about how we can raise funding.
Money makes the world go around, still.
Just because we see and seek a better solution, it doesnt mean that others will immediately understand its necessity. So we have to promote. How we most effective get engaged with businesses to get funds from them?

PEOPLE
Peoples fundraising. How can we get into the minds of average people to raise additional funds there..
Dont underestimate the amount of money what is hiding there! People bet on ebay for moon property sites. We can do something equally i propose!
We have to reach massmedia with the idea to build a hightech city, which the idea really is about. Someone has to present some cool looking pictures and some important looking schemes on TV and refer to the internetsite where we will have to put up some clips. Then we should mention on the show as well as on as much internetsites as possible that there will be an auction on Ebay selling rare citizenship-certificates which will allow you to live and work there. We can always sell more of course, since its unlimited (the city may grow ) but it has to look scarce.
Any other ideas on getting peoples funds?

BUSINESS
Furthermore we have to start our own moneymaking businesses. I am doing so in about a month. If there are others with businesses among you, we could connect and design some bumper sticker for every business supporting the city, something like the green heart ^^
We have to see. That is also the point why we shouldnt fight capitalism so obvious. It helps media to freak out the masses about the idea.
We should put the "High Tech" in forefront when promoting. Technology is socially accepted and "cool", sharing is not (sadly). When people then will engage here they will see the other points as well.

I would love to hear more ideas from you

i agree. my focus is convincing other people of approximately that and then
doing my part in right action to switch gears into creating it.

o know what they are doing, when talking about architecture, robotics, etc..
We need specialists. People wh

the easy way to grow is to become an architecture student support group.

@CREW I would suggest students, or anyone under 25 to probably be the worst choices due to issues with maturity and lack of real world experience, and suggest older people, especially those experienced and skilled.

Thats not to say some students wouldn't be suitable, but listening to employers for example, they always complain about the low quality of students and I noticed myself as a manager that most folk under 25 to be particularly poor employees when it comes to a worth ethic.

All other points about the need to earn money, promote as high tech/etc. I generally agree with that kind of direction.

Listening to people about what would convince them on an idea being a good one, is to produce a prototype building, eg. something physical, as most folk are not great believers I find when it come to just words alone.

Yes I would agree on the qualification and maturity.
I am 23 actually and when I look around I see a bunch of crackheads. Most people my age just want to get drunk at any possibility there is ^^
I was the same before some events had me to rethink nearly everything i knew.
Im not talking Zeitgeist here and im not one of the People who are saying "Oh this completely changed my mind, ur a messiah!"
Obama was regarded a messiah too. Well now we know that his heaven is build upon Wall Street. There were more people chearing when he drove along in Germany, then there were for our own election.
Damn you can really see how good propaganda works and we have to set foot on mass media somehow if this is to become something. The most people i know are really skeptic when it comes to new ideas, or ideas questioning establishment. In that matter it would be much wiser to not try running walls, when theres a way around.
Lets do it the capitalist way and walk in circles to our common aim.
So i want everyone to propose things which will work for mass influence.
Means, our cultural norms we can rely on.
If we propose it the way Fresco does, I really fear that we'll get a bunch of trekies and in future they will discuss how to build alien proof cities.
The concept of cybernation is necessary and out of question, but we have to go slow on this one.
Soak the mass in with cool ideas/products/activities.
Bring them out of the narcotic state of live their in.
Slowly start to reeducate them.

Thats how it will work.

So step one:
Build up cool networks and ideas.
How about starting common sense groups on facebook which will forseable grow very fast? Something like "Im not drunk! You have a split personality!"
Something, which will save us a widespread base of mass information.
Join the major Facebook groups and post a video link to Peters, frescos work is also good.
Making this site easy to find is also important.
I had to search quite a bit to find this and the truth is that ordinary people dont use much time to search for something. They want to have it right away.
So we give it to them. But we need to be organized. We need to be ready for that.
We need to publish real plans/videos/surveys to show strength and reliability to the new ones. I dont see anything convincing here.
I am still just asserting that this is a serious movement and not only some forum to swell in dreams!! I am serious
My exams will end on the 12th of august. I would like to skype with the active core of this project someday after. I am really interested in making this big and show to the people (no matter if they are homeless or superrich) that there is an alternative for that sick lifestyle. Peacefully.

interesting ideas HK.

i like the general ideas you propose, however, I would like to make a few notes:

to my understanding, we will not be selling entrance to the city, rather, inviting specific persons based on skill sets to ensure the city can function.

also, trying to recruit people on foot is really difficult to accomplish. people with a message are a dime a dozen, especially at a university, which may end up wasting more time than its worth, however, i like your internet ideas, namely because of the mass impact for minimal time spent.

i do agree however that we really need to get more groups going, even to just begin doing research (whether through real-life experimentation or just over the internet)

We've tried universities; kids are too busy, teachers don't care. It's difficult to pass on the knowledge to an open ear. Even when I've found a teacher that thinks it's an interesting idea they have devoted too much time and energy into the way things are to spend the little time they don't have on a project.

Fundraisers have been discussed in great length. Honestly, it would take so long with fund-raising it shouldn't be much of a concern. We will of course have some, but grants and large investor donations are much more important. Fundraisers are more for raising awareness in our case.

Considering Atlas is only being built for 1000-5000 population a large number of knowledgeable people would be nice, but a handful that can teach willing learners is just as effective. The issue you pointed out with having empty groups is the common fallacy of our world. The lack of patients. People have a gander and say it's too far away, or they disagree with one thing and walk away. Be one of the needed people you are talking about.
