I don't really see a good place to put this, nor has it been brought up much. The internet will be a large part of Atlas for entertainment, information, news, etc. As an individual city, it is likely we will have to start our own service. I'm sure many of you know more about this than I do, but I found a few interesting links for anyone that want's to learn more about it.

Although I think it is a great idea, it would be costly. It would cost at least twice as much as it would to simply put up a T3 or T4 line (using a different ISP) and simply hardwire Ethernet cables or to set up wireless routers.

T4 lines allow an uploading speed of around 274.18 Mbps, the equivalent of 3668 T1 lines.

According to Ehow, its even easier to set up a T4 line as it only would require 1 fiber optics line.

Overall, the speed of T4 is the minimum speed that Atlas City should have, as the Atlas Mainframe Hub will require fast speeds to transfer large packets of data (to and from) the Atlas citizen's home and (in Atlas City v2.0), the constant connection required in the Resource Management System and universities.

Confused a bit in regards to something I said? Simply ask.

i think we could put routers inside of each building and just have computers connect wireless. however, we will need to pay i am sure to run a line into the city... (probably miles)

I agree that we need the highest speed possible. The internet age is how we will get everything done and information out to others. So we would still need to run the T4 line from somewhere outside to connect us. I wonder how far the nearest station is going to be.
