You are probably right, it will probably be more like 5 stages, but I didn't want to complicate things too much in the conversation.
Back when i was really giving it to you straight too many people didn't "get" it.
If you look at round one, I drew up at one point a zones treatment where there was a 100 meter tall growth per growth stage and like eight growth stages.
This seemed to go over as well as Easter for Klingons.
("Korath! You are using up all the red paint...careful not to squeeze the eggs!")
"also, if you were to do this with chase's earthship design,"
thats clearly not what this is, but okay,...
"you would want all their large windows to be facing the same direction, that way they all have the same levels of heating and cooling."
This is a radial symetric design which assumes that heating is more electrical and less solar. I can have the array function not rotate arrayed things, so thats fine for structures we want to do like that.
you also want them spaced so that the other buildings dont block light
Its also a housing structure not a garden, and its designed without regard to solar heating or access. I think that keeping solar access in mind is a great idea, but lets try to remember that solar access isn't everything.
And artificial lighting can now mimick the sun wherever and whenever we want it.
The point of this design is 1200 units with that square footage each inside of a 600 meter diameter.
In other words, Density is the primary consideration in this design.
